Avalanche Skills Training – Certificate 2 with A night under the stars

Looking to take your avalanche training and backcountry experience to the next level? Blizzard Academy offers an AST 2 + Camping option—Australia’s only Avalanche Canada-accredited AST 2 course with an overnight camping component.

You'll complete the full AST 2 curriculum, including one day of classroom learning and three days in the field, with one night spent camping in a true alpine environment. This immersive experience adds a layer of learning, allowing you to practice winter camp setup, manage your gear in cold conditions, and make real-time decisions in a multi-day trip context. It also provides valuable insight into group dynamics and leadership while overnighting in remote terrain.

This is an ideal option for those preparing for extended backcountry missions, ski traverses, or hut-to-hut touring, where overnight stays in challenging terrain are part of the objective.

Prerequisites:
Minimum 10 days of backcountry experience after completing AST 1.
AST 1 certificate required for registration.

The minimum age for the AST 2 certificate is 16.
