Ski Mountaineering 1

For skiers, snowboarders, and mountaineers ready to advance their alpine skills.

Course Format and Duration: 4 hours of online learning followed by 1 full day in the field, guided by Blizzard Academy instructors who make learning fun, practical, and memorable. You’ll put your skills into action and gain hands-on experience navigating real alpine conditions.

Prerequisite:                                                                            AST 1, ensuring all participants have a solid foundation in avalanche safety and backcountry awareness, plus prior backcountry skiing or snowboarding experience is required.

Certification: Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Participation and practical skills gained.

Equipment & Tools: Ski/boot crampons, ice axes and additional equipment

Ascending & Descending: Move safely on steep, icy, or crusted slopes

Belaying & Rappelling: Set anchors, manage ropes and learn the basics

Ski Mountaineering: Plan routes, set tracks, and stay aware in challenging terrain

Winter Survival: Build emergency shelters
