Ready to take your backcountry skiing or boarding to the next level? Want to test your skills in real alpine terrain, climbing and skiing?
The Ski Mountaineering Level 2 Course builds on the skills from Level 1 with two full days in challenging alpine terrain. You’ll apply your knowledge of crampons, ice axes, route planning, and winter travel through longer climbs and technical descents.
Designed for experienced skiers, splitboarders, and mountaineers, this course offers a smaller group size for more one-on-one coaching and hands-on learning in real backcountry conditions.
For skiers, snowboarders, and mountaineers who’ve completed Level 1 and are ready to push their alpine skills in backcountry.
Course Format and Duration: Two full days in the backcountry, guided by Blizzard Academy instructors who make learning practical, fun, and immersive. You’ll put your skills to the test on real alpine climbs and descents, gaining hands-on experience in challenging conditions.
Prerequisite: Ski Mountaineering Level 1 (or equivalent skills), AST 1 certification, and prior backcountry skiing or snowboarding experience.
Certification: Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Participation and practical skills gained.

Equipment & Tools: Refine your use of ski/boot crampons, ice axes, and technical gear.
Ascending & Descending: Tackle steep, icy, crusted, and mixed slopes with efficient movement.
Belaying & Rappelling: Practice anchors, rope management, and technical travel, including rappelling into ski lines.
Ski Mountaineering: Plan and execute challenging routes and set tracks.
Winter Survival: Build an emergency shelter using your own gear
