Why AST 2?
AST 2 builds on your AST 1 foundation and is essential for anyone looking to tackle more complex and serious backcountry objectives. You’ll sharpen your skills in snowpack analysis, terrain assessment, decision-making, and companion rescue.

Course Overview:

  • Day 1: Classroom Session – Dive into advanced avalanche theory and trip planning.

  • Days 2–4: Field Sessions – Hands-on learning in real mountain environments with expert guidance.

Course Requirements:

  • AST 1 certification

  • Minimum 10 days of backcountry experience post-AST 1
