Australian Drift

The Australian mountains are unique, and so is the community that calls them home.

Australian Drift is a beautifully crafted short film by Australian filmmaker, skier, and guide Dylan Robinson, created over three years as a reflection on skiing in our backyard. Featuring poetic narration from Drew Jolowicz and Kyle Boys, the film is a heartfelt tribute to the people, places, and experiences that define backcountry skiing in New South Wales and Victoria.

“Come on a visual journey of Australian backcountry skiing... find out why we love these mountains and what keeps us coming back.”

From wind-scoured ridgelines to deep tree runs, Australian Drift captures the raw beauty and subtle magic of Australia’s snow-covered ranges. It’s not just about powder turns—it’s about belonging, rhythm, weather watching, and returning season after season to familiar snow gum forests and ridgelines.

At Blizzard Academy, we live and breathe this connection. We guide, teach, and explore in the same mountains featured in the film. Whether you’re just getting started in backcountry touring or diving deeper through an AST 2 course, Australian Drift is a powerful reminder of why we’re out there—and what we stand to protect and enjoy.
